QWhat is the difference between flake ice and tube ice — which one do I need?
Flake ice is dry, flat and non-clumping with a very large contact area, so it cools product fast. It is the right choice for poultry pre-chilling, seafood preservation, meat mixing and concrete cooling. Tube ice is a hollow, clear cylinder with high hardness and slow dilution — it suits beverage, bakery, hotel and restaurant display. QHow big a flake ice machine does a 1,000 BPH poultry slaughter line need?
It depends on the slaughter capacity and the pre-chilling process. As a rule of thumb a 1,000 BPH poultry line is paired with a 3–5 t/24h flake ice machine, and lines above 3,000 BPH with 10–20 t/24h. Send us your spiral pre-cooler parameters and NPW will calculate the exact ice duty.
QCan a fishing boat make ice directly from seawater?
Yes. The NPW-FS seawater flake ice machine and the NPW-S fluid ice machine make ice directly from seawater, which removes the fresh water supply problem on board. Marine models run at 0.5–6 t/24h (FS) and 1–20 t/24h (S) and are built for the offshore environment.
QDo I need a cold room to store the ice?
Not necessarily. Small flake ice machines are delivered with an integrated ice bin (NPW-F0.3 to NPW-F3.2), and bag ice is sealed for storage. For large daily output or long holding times we add a rake type freezer with 18–60 t storage (NPW-RAKE) or an insulated ice bunker.
QDoes ice output drop in a high-temperature plant?
There is some influence from ambient conditions. NPW selects a water-cooled or evaporative condenser for your local climate, or oversizes the condenser, so the machine keeps its rated output at high ambient temperature.
QHow much is an ice machine for a food factory, and can it be customized?
Price follows the ice type, daily capacity and configuration (condenser type, voltage, ice bin, materials). NPW supports custom builds from 0.3 to 30 t/24h in every ice type, with custom voltage, seawater ice making and containerized plants.
