Product Overview
This product is high-purity flake sodium hydroxide (NaOH), a core pH adjuster and pre-treatment chemical specifically designed for wastewater treatment systems in slaughterhouses and meat processing plants. Slaughter wastewater is typically acidic due to its high content of blood, fats, and protein breakdown products, and contains a large amount of emulsified pollutants. By efficiently neutralizing acidity and breaking emulsions to remove oils, this product creates the crucial alkaline reaction environment necessary for subsequent coagulation, flocculation, and biological treatment. It is a fundamental chemical for ensuring the efficient and stable operation of the entire wastewater treatment system.

Three Core Functions in Slaughterhouse Wastewater Treatment
- Precise pH Adjustment to Create Optimal Reaction Conditions
- Problem: Slaughter wastewater typically has a pH of 5.5-7.0 (acidic), which severely inhibits the coagulation-flocculation efficiency of Polyaluminium Chloride (PAC) and Polyacrylamide (PAM), and negatively affects microbial activity in biological tanks.
- Solution: This product rapidly and stably raises the wastewater pH to the optimal range of 7.5-9.0. In this slightly alkaline environment, PAC can fully hydrolyze to form highly adsorptive aluminum hydroxide colloids, laying the foundation for the efficient removal of suspended solids and colloidal pollutants in subsequent stages.
- Efficient Demulsification and Oil Removal: Solving a Key Slaughterhouse Wastewater Challenge
- Problem: The wastewater contains a large amount of emulsified oils and fats originating from adipose tissue, forming a stable oil-in-water system that is difficult to separate by physical means.
- Solution: Sodium hydroxide flakes undergo a saponification reaction with fats, producing hydrophilic sodium fatty acid salts (soaps). This destabilizes the interfacial film of the emulsified oil droplets, causing them to coalesce. The de-emulsified oils and fats are then much more easily removed by subsequent flotation or sedimentation units, significantly reducing the load on downstream processes.
- Auxiliary Disinfection and Improvement of Sludge Characteristics
- Auxiliary Disinfection: The created alkaline environment inherently inhibits pathogens such as bacteria and viruses.
- Improved Dewaterability: Moderately increasing the pH helps break down the colloidal structure of subsequently formed sludge, releasing bound water and thereby improving sludge dewaterability, which reduces sludge disposal costs.
Core Product Advantages
- High Efficiency & Speed: Flake form ensures rapid dissolution and fast reaction, enabling precise and stable pH adjustment.
- Dual Efficacy: Combines the functions of “pH Adjustment” and “Chemical Demulsification” in one product, achieving multiple effects and lowering overall treatment costs.
- High-Purity Assurance: Produced using superior processes with low impurity content, minimizing secondary pollution or chemical waste caused by impurities.
- Easy to Use: Solid flake form is easy to store, transport, and dose (can be dosed automatically via dedicated feeding equipment).
Technical Parameters
- Main Component: Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)
- Purity: ≥96% (Industrial Grade, Superior) or ≥99% (Food Grade, optional)
- Appearance: White, semi-transparent flakes
- Solubility: Highly soluble in water, releasing significant heat.
Safety and Handling Instructions
- Strong Corrosivity: This product is a strong base. Operators must wear protective goggles, rubber gloves, and alkali-resistant aprons.
- Dissolution Procedure: The “ALWAYS ADD ALKALI TO WATER” rule must be followed. Add flakes slowly to water with stirring. NEVER add water to the flakes, to prevent violent splashing and burns.
- Storage Requirements: Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from acids and flammable materials.
